Public sector worker pay and benefits

The bottom line here is that public sector employees are public servants ..... We treat them as equals but they see themselves as better and deserving more or at least it seems that way.

The solutions here are simple common sense solutions based on fair play.

Salaries

Should be based on an average of the salaries for the same job in the state in which you live.  They will be surveyed every year and never be more than that average.  Federal employees will be based on a national average.  These are the people who are taxed to pay for your job and you will not make more than them period.

Retirement

Should be based on the "matching percentage" that workers in the state in which you live are given.  So if most people working in a state get a 3% match for their 401k or pension then that's what we match for you.  You will pay the same amount for your retirement that we do period.  Again you serve us as an equal you will not have better than us who pay for you.

Vesting for retirement

Based on the national average.

Retirement age

The govt says that we cannot get our 401k or social security until age 62 .... guess what ... public sector employees cannot get their retirement until that age either.

Health care

Again based an the average amount companies are paying for their employees.  We will pay the same amount for you ...

Vacation and sick pay

The same as the average in the state .... but you will never be paid for sick days you did not take.
