Most people have no problem with immigrants, I myself emigrated here in 1975 but I did it through the legal process. People do have a problem with cheaters and unfair practices. It's not fair that illegals skip ahead of others in their country trying to do it the right way, it's unfair that they work under the table and don't pay taxes to live here, it's unfair that they get benefits being paid for by Americans who do pay taxes. They take advantage of the system and that generates a lot of ill will towards them.
Here is the simple, fair and common sense solution to this issue:
- You come forward immediately and are given a "Pending alien status". Under this status you can work in this country and you will pay taxes. You will not be eligible for food stamps or any other benefits offered to Americans.....you're not an American yet. This is an important step to making people resent illegal immigrants less. You will not be eligible to apply for "resident alien" status until 3 times as long as people who emigrate legally from your country. This is fair to your countrymen.
- If you brought kids into this country and they do not speak English you will pay for them to be tutored in English. They will not enter our school system until they can speak the language. We're not going to have our classrooms slowed down by your kids needing more attention. If you cannot pay for the tutoring you will perform community service at the school. Your kids cannot apply for resident alien status until you can.
- If you give birth to a child here and you are not a resident alien or a citizen they are not American citizens. They are the nationality of the parents period! If i have a baby on a ship my child is not a citizen of the ship or the ocean is it .... well it's no different here.
- No one can apply for in state tuition rates until they are resident aliens. We are not going to have Americans from another state paying more to go to a college than you or your kids. You broke the law to come here and you will not be rewarded for it.
- You will be eligible for social security once you become a resident alien.
